Bakun Trip

This trip has been planned for almost a year.Couple of friends can't make it at the the last minutes before the trip, but after all,5 of us finally made it.
The stories of giant Malaysian mahseer or kelah/empurau and sebarau/semah,adong,juak and ikan labang made the trip is the one that we really looking forward to.
We started the journey around 10 at night of March 15th.Ten hours drive from Kuching to Bintulu, and another three hours to Bakun doesn't feel that long.
And another 3 hours boat ride from the dam to the upper river of Murum. We reached Nanga Temaju just after the sun set and in the dark,we can't find a camp site.No land visible, since water has flooded everything. The flooded trees blocked the way to the land.So we spent the first night on the boat.

Supper cum breakfast around 1 am at Jelukung.

Fruit stall along the road up to Bakun.

Deforestation....

Some forest still survive, for the moment...

and concrete waterfalls too...

and new ridge of mountain connecting mountains and stops the mighty Rejang river.

and Rejang become a small stream...

but an ocean created above it...

the drown....

and the quest...

and safe from the land tax...

and keep extending...

out of place?

...its time to go home now...

Just in case you notice there's no picture with the catch here, please don't bother to ask for it.
It was raining heavily every night for the whole trip and nights before that.Water is just too murky.Artificial lure doesn't work. And only catfish take the bait.
Anyway...it was a great trip..and great escape too.
